Technical SEO in Leeds

If Google can't properly read your website, or customers give up waiting for it to load, good content won't get the results it should.

What it is

What technical SEO covers

Technical SEO is the work behind the scenes that helps search engines find, read and understand your website, and helps it run well for the people using it. You can't always see the problems, but they can quietly hold a site back.

An important page might be hidden from Google by mistake. The same page might exist at several addresses. Old links might lead nowhere, or the site might crawl along on a phone.

A technical audit finds these problems and puts them in order, starting with what's most likely to affect your enquiries. We explain each one in plain English.

What's included

  • Core Web Vitals and page speed
  • Crawling and indexing fixes
  • Redirects and broken pages
  • Duplicate page and canonical checks
  • Sitemaps and robots files
  • Schema markup
  • Site migrations

How it works

How a technical audit works

Crawl the site

We go through your website much as a search engine does, looking for pages it can't reach, understand or trust.

Test the experience

We check speed and usability on mobile, because that's how many local customers will find you.

Prioritise the fixes

You get a clear list of what matters most, so effort doesn't go on tiny issues that won't change anything.

Fix and check

We make the agreed changes where we manage your site, then check that they've worked.

What we look for

Speed, structure and clarity

Page experience: Google's Core Web Vitals measure loading, responsiveness and visual stability. Its targets are a Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, an Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less, and a Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less.

Structure: clean addresses, sensible internal links and a clear page hierarchy help Google understand how your site fits together. Schema markup is extra code that describes your business and services in a format search engines can read.

Site moves: changing your website or address without a plan is one of the easiest ways to lose rankings. Every old page needs to point to the right new one, so we map this out before anything moves.

We hold our own site to the same standard. On 4 November 2026, our home page scored 100 out of 100 for Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO in Google PageSpeed Insights on mobile.

FAQs

Common questions

How do I know if my site has technical problems?

Slow pages, pages missing from Google and traffic that suddenly drops are common signs, but many issues aren't obvious. We look at your site as part of your free check.

Is page speed really a ranking factor?

It plays a part, but it won't make up for weak content. A faster site mainly helps because people are less likely to give up and go elsewhere.

Can I change my website without losing rankings?

A well-planned move with the right redirects greatly reduces the risk, although rankings can still move around for a short time. The main thing is to plan it before the old site is switched off.

Will you explain what you find?

Yes. You'll get a plain-English explanation of what's wrong, why it matters and what we'd do about it.
